Sometimes, you need a reminder that beauty exists beyond the chaos of everyday life. That’s why I’m drawn to botanical gardens. There’s something about being surrounded by nature, by the simple yet profound beauty of plants, that brings you back to what truly matters. It’s about slowing down, taking it all in, and remembering that life doesn’t have to be complicated to be meaningful.

When I heard about the Reimagining Nature: Dalí’s Floral Fantasies exhibit, I knew it was something I had to tell you about. Dalí’s work, especially these botanical prints, isn’t just art—it’s a surreal twist on nature that makes you rethink the world around you. Imagine stepping into a dream where flowers and fruits take on new forms, each one more vibrant and detailed than the last.

So if you’re like me, always on the lookout for moments that connect you back to nature and simplicity, this exhibit is a must-see. Take a moment to appreciate the art, while finding joy in the little things.

On display at the Dalí Museum in St. Petersburg, Florida through October 20, the exhibit explores the world of flowering plants created by Salvador Dalí (1904–1989). Beth Bell, Chief Marketing Officer for the Dalí Museum, says, “Our visitors are fascinated by seeing an unexpected, more whimsical side of Dalí. These botanical prints represent some of the most provocative works he’s created, evoke a heightened sense of wonder, and demonstrate Dalí’s unique ability to blend surreal new elements in surprising ways.”

The pieces in this exhibit reimagine traditional portrayals of fruits and flowers. They blend iconic imagery from Dalí’s career with innovative approaches to printmaking.

Created in the later years of Dalí’s career, during the vibrant pop art era, the 1968 Flora Dalínae (FlorDalí), the 1969 FlorDalí (Les Fruits), and the 1972 Florals (Surrealist Flowers) were Dalí’s response to the Pop Art influences of artists like Andy Warhol. Dalí infused 18th- and 19th-century botanical illustrations, by artists such as Pierre Antoine Poiteau and Pierre-Joseph Redouté, with his own surreal characters and symbols—like flies, ants, and melting clocks.

Alongside these print suites, the exhibit also features selected paintings by Dalí that include botanical elements, as well as archival materials, such as floral advertisements designed by the artist.
